Everyone rides

Access & boarding

Step-free stations, level cabin boarding, and a span that can slow for anyone who asks.

What we can do, plainly

Boarding

Level entry

Both station platforms meet the cabin floor within a centimetre. Wheelchairs and walkers board level; the crew chocks and guides, and nobody is hurried.

The span

Slow or still, on request

The cabins can run at half speed, or pause mid-span for anyone who needs a steadier ride. Ask when you board; the engine has done it hundreds of times.

Stations

Step-free throughout

Ticket office, waiting room, tea room and viewing rail are all step-free. The bothy's original 1927 threshold is the one step left, and there is a ramp beside it.

Assistance

Company for the ride

Companions ride free with a passenger who needs them. Assistance dogs are welcome in both cabins; the brass cabin's 2021 refit added a clip bowl for exactly this.
