A year on the span
Seasons
The valley changes its mind four times a year. The timetable changes with it.
Mar–May
Spring, lambing light
The Vale greens from the bottom up. Lambs in the lower fields, mud on the lower path, and the first clear-air mornings. The fog clause still applies; the reward is bigger.
Jun–Aug
Summer, sundowners
Long evenings, the sundowner card on Fridays to Sundays, and the brass cabin booking out weeks ahead. Booking matters now, everything else forgives.
Sep–Oct
Autumn, the leaf run
The beech wood does its one loud thing. Peak weekends run extra cabins; midweek afternoons stay quiet. Photography is permitted; tripods, on request, get the 15:20 cabin.
Nov–Feb
Winter, short hours
9:00 to 15:30, frost on the span, four counties in cold blue air. Wrap properly: the cabins are heated by mugs and manners, and both run out by four.
