Getting here: the 8:05 from Whitethorn Halt stops a ten-minute walk from Vale-bottom; the Halt's 17:52 return meets the last clear-air descent. By car there is a small meadow car park that fills by eleven on leaf weekends; by boot there is the old switchback track, which takes two hours and one strong opinion.
